There are so many tools for us to navigate and work in Excel but one of the most valuable tools for me is the Name Box and the Paste Options. The Name Box helps us know where we are and the cell we have selected. The Paste Options has a variety of options that allows us to paste the formatting or the values of the transpose.
Excel was introduced to me in the 5th grade but I never knew how to use the Paste Options. I tried to find out when they started these options but couldn't find in the Google. Just wanted to know whether I just missed it or they were developed in the later 2000's.
Glad 5.3.4 Data Entry Facts introduced you to the Name Box and the various Paste Options ^_^
ReplyDeleteI don't recall when the many Paste Options came into existence but I'm glad they are available :-)

ReplyDeleteWow, Excel introduced to you the in fifth grade?! My son had no idea what Excel is and the need for it. That is impressive. The variety of paste options is very helpful.
ReplyDeletePaste options button on the worksheet is nice especially when you want to Keep Source Formatting when you paste content.
ReplyDeleteI like the name box, but I think it's location is a little bit inconspicuous. It would be nice if it's position same as Word's bookmark.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear that you found the Name Box and Paste Options helpful in your data entry work in Excel. The Name Box is indeed a useful tool to keep track of the selected cell, while the Paste Options can save time and make formatting consistent. As for the origin of Excel, I couldn't believe that it's been around since 1985, so it's been around for a while!
ReplyDeleteNavigating excel could be a lot there are so many options and different things we could do but ultimately its very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Tsz, the name box is fantastic, but the placement is terrible lol. Knowing about all of the different paste options is critical I have too come to learn.
ReplyDeleteCan we all agree that Excel is awesome for having all the many different paste options? To be able to copy just the formulas, or just the values, etc. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe name box supports a range name’s scope. For instance, all workbook scope-level and current sheet-level range names appear in the dropdown. Sheet-level range names only appear when their sheet is the current sheet. This explains why sometimes you know the range exists, but you don’t see it in the dropdown.
